Statement of Commitment to Child Safety & Wellbeing

At Dunstan Swim Schools, children are at the heart of what we do. We want every child who swims with us to feel safe, welcome, respected and confident to be themselves.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

We are committed by:

Putting children’s safety and wellbeing first;
Listening to children and taking their views and concerns seriously;
Treating every child fairly and with dignity, regardless of their background, culture, identity, ability or support needs;
Providing safe physical and online environments;
Ensuring our staff understand professional boundaries and their child-safety responsibilities;
Involving families in creating safe and positive swimming experiences; and
Speaking up and acting promptly whenever we see, hear or suspect something that may place a child at risk.

We do not tolerate child abuse, neglect, grooming, discrimination, bullying or any other conduct that may harm a child.

Child safety is everyone’s responsibility. Our policies, practices, recruitment, training and day-to-day decisions are guided by the Queensland Child Safe Standards and the Universal Principle of cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

Raising a Concern

Children and families are encouraged to contact our Child Safety Contact directly if anything makes them feel worried, unsafe or uncomfortable. They will be listened to, treated respectfully and taken seriously.

Dunstan Swim Schools may appoint another suitably trained person to this role. Current contact details will be published on our website.
